We must ensure gender equality in nationality laws. 60 years ago, the nationality laws of most States did not provide equal rights to women in nationality matters. This has radically changed for the better since the adoption in 1979 of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (#CEDAW). But today there are still 27 countries that prevent women from conferring nationality to their children. These discriminatory laws increase the vulnerability of children born in exile to refugee parents & of undocumented #migrants - a major issue we are seeing in the current #migration crisis.
